International Academic Conference on Migration was held

On 10-11 May, 2017 an international conference was held at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Tbilisi focused on the challenges posed by global migration. The participants of the conference - Georgian and foreign researchers working on migration shared experience and deepened the knowledge about regional and international migration processes.

The topic of migration is pivotal for EU member states; hence, the international conference created a good opportunity for Georgia to join the debates on migration and elaborate adequate approaches to the modern challenges raised by migration.

The international conference is a good mechanism for reflecting on the global approach to Migration based on UN principles. The event was organized in the framework of the 2016-2020 Migration Strategy Action Plan (2016-2017) and the Memoranda concluded between the State Commission on Migration Issues and the Tbilisi State University in 2014.

The conference was supported by the EU funded ENIGMMA project implemented in Georgia by the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD).
