Assisted Voluntary Return to Georgia

Since 2003 the International Organization for Migration has been assisting Georgian nationals in EU countries who wish to return to their homeland voluntarily.To date International Organization for Migration, Mission to Georgia cooperates with 29 sending countries, mainly EU member states, Switzerland and Canada. Programme participants are asylum seekers who have received negative feedback on their claim and irregular migrants. Reintegration package comprises components such as: general counseling, different types of training, medical assistance, temporary accommodation, micro business, referrals to state and private programmes, assistance in employment. Since 2003 to present - 4694 returned migrants, among them 2688 have received some type of reintegration assistance: employment – 119 persons, micro business – 1518 persons (1800 returnees involved in total in these businesses), training – 164 persons, medical assistance – 360 persons, temporary accommodation - 223 families.
