Training on Migration for Imereti Local Government Employees

Training on migration issues was held on 30 April, 2015 in Kutaisi, at the Imereti Governor’s Office organised ICMPD within the framework of the 2015 ENIGMMA information campaign in close cooperation with the SCMI Secretariat and other state institutions involved in migration management in Georgia. The training targeted representatives of Imereti self-governance bodies. The main objective of the training was to raise public awareness on migration management in Georgia. Representatives from different state institutions delivered presentations on the current situation of EU-Georgia cooperation, the new Law of Georgia on Legal Status of Aliens and Stateless Persons, new visa policy of Georgia, Visa Liberalisation Action Plan, EU-Georgia Association Agreement, return and reintegration of Georgian migrants, asylum and removal procedures of aliens and general migration management in Georgia.

The training was well received by the municipality representatives and the wish was expressed to continue similar meetings in the future.
